Rethinking
Libraries

Use of library systems on campus continually evolves as students' needs change. This project was designed to rethink the use of the main floor of Briggs Library on the South Dakota State University Campus.

The requirements of the project were to retain Brutalist Architecture in its original form. While at the same time, the form fulfilled the function for students and campus personnel. Ensuring a student-centric design, creating flexible learning spaces, a welcoming atmosphere, and maintaining a connection to campus were all important aspects of this project. The entire design process had to account for the theory of multiple intelligences.
